And me without my BEER...

At some time around 6am local server time (I'd say probably around 10-11am UK time), something happened with the site that caused the database to go nuts. The host had to rename the database (which is why you had trouble getting on the forums). The problem is that without any information I really don't even know where to start looking to find the bug so if you were on this morning and did something and noticed the site grind to a halt (or give some DB error, please send me a mail (link below) and tell me what it was you were doing/trying to do. It would really help us get this back on track. Until then, we're probably not going to have either forums up. In fact, we really don't even know if it was the forums. If you tried signing up for the mailing list or something like that, it's possible that was the cause too. So any help would be appreciated.

About Registering...

There is a problem with registering on the forums with "free" mailers. I thought that I had covered this, but perhaps I didn't. Here it is in a nutshell. We can not find a problem either in the forum code or on the server (in fact, we have people who successfully sign up for the mailing list < Which by the way will start sending out mails soon > and those get received so it's not the server). The best we can determine, the free mailers are ditching the mails as spam (I have had this problem while trying to register for other forums using my hotmail address. I eventually made a "fake" address on one of my domains).

Please know that if you register with any free e-mailer, you might have registration issues. Please do not register again (especially under another free e-mailer). Just send me (at any of my many addresses) an e-mail from that address you used to register and I will manually activate your account. Alternatively, you can use a "non-free" e-mail address. After all, you won't get anything from me that isn't related to the ERPA archives (which I am assuming you are at least remotely interested in since you ARE registering here...) and let's face it. I'm Tillek. I ran the ERPA out of my own pocket for a long time. I'm not going to sell your e-mail address to spammers who want to increase the size of parts of your anatomy for a quick buck.

Now of course, there isn't much on the forums, so you might ask "why should I register anyway"? Well, that is about to change. Stay tuned!

Been awhile....

It's been some time since I actually bothered to update the news. I have done some minor work here and there though it hasn't been anything major. It's hard to gauge the interest since we do not get many signups for the forum or mailing list, however we do get quite a few unique hits a day. Since I did get contacted today regarding some old proposals and we recently got a few votes for that on the poll, my next focus will be on the historical guild listings. Well, ok, I'll also work on some of the old proposals too, I guess.

On the forums, I re-did the CSS file to make it a bit more readable. I'm still trying to keep with the old theme/layout of the old site, so we'll see. I'll work harder on makeing it prettier if there is a call for it, but for now at least you can actually see everything.

And as a final note, I'm pondering the idea of having some historical awards perhaps (like favorite old city, favorite old player). I haven't worked out all the details in my head but basically you would only be elligible if you were gone (so current players or cities/towns that are still active would not be permitted). At any rate I'll try to get that set up and open the floor for nominations.

New stuff.

Just a note to let you know that I restored some previously hidden (closed) forums. The nobility boards, the quest team RP issues boards, etc. Many of these boards were closed down due to inactivity or they just became useless. I put them back in place for reference.

Furthermore, I "declassified" the ERPA MEMCOM boards. Memcom was an attempt to streamline the application process by having prospective members evaluated by a small committee of people who actually were to take the time to get to know the guilds. (This helped prevent good guilds not being able to get in because too many GM's abstained "because I never met them" which became all too common).

Whether it was a good move or not *shrugs*.... the forum is open for you to peruse.

Be sure to check the archives for that forum as well.

ERPA Resurrected!

Due to popular demand and renewed interest, the ERPA will be resurrected! We will be joining forces with the remnants of CoY to provide a community that is not designed to revolve around "certain characters". Furthermore, we will ensure that as we will only take good and mature people as leaders, there is no chance of GM's letting their personal agendas interfere with the needs of the community! Please contact me if you are interested in being part of this revolutionary idea!
